Are you looking for an affectionate pet?
Although hedgehogs can be affectionate with their owners, it is not a pet that would be recommended as a very affectionate pet. Remember that they still have many of the fear drives that their wild counterparts have. They will cuddle once socialization is done; however, this is something that takes time and a lot of effort.

While hedgehogs may not be expensive compared to other pets, there is still a high cost to properly set up a cage for your hedgehog. In addition, there are food and medical costs that you should be prepared for.

Make sure that you can provide the proper safety for your hedgehog. This means a proper cage, proper supervision when your hedgehog is out and proper medical care. In addition if you have other pets, make sure that you keep your hedgehog safe from them.
