One of the largest causes of death in the hedgehog is hibernation.it is risky:hedgehogs of defendeless against cold,floods and nest destruction.all the time they are burning up their fat reserves.predation is not a treat to the hedgehog:they are very well protected by their spines and roll up mechanism.gamekeepers often kill hedgehogs,because hedgehogs eat their birds eggs.motor cars are also a threat to the hedgehog.however,the primary cause of death to the hedgehog is simply hibernation.
