Hi everyone, I am new to this fantastic forum, I am a 56 years young female from Bedworth in Warwickshire, I am going to be a new first time hoggy owner in two weeks time, I have reserved a little boy, a chocolate pinto, the breeder has been sending me pics of him from just over two weeks old, he is so cute (as they all are) I will try and post a few pics of him, I am very much looking forward to being a part of this friendly forum and no doubt will be asking tons of questions.,have had lots of little critters over the years, I used to be secretary of a ferret rescue and had quite a few of my own and also fostered until loving homes were found, I have had rats, corn snakes, bearded dragon, rabbits, cats and dogs, I have one dog at the moment a giant floppy eared German Shepard named Olly who was rescued at 12 weeks of age and is now almost 8 years old anyway I Look forward to meeting lots of you in time..

I have the following in my family;

Puddin' features - My first rescued foster hoggie
Little Miss Daisy Splat - My first beanie who I got off Helen (Nellie) because Lou says everyone should have a beanie
Mushroom - My first doorstopper hedgehog - another of Helen's babies
Mr Fez - My first ever Desert hedgehog - He's going to be a big boy me thinks
Penny - My first older lady who has come through the rescue but will have a forever home with me
Ernie Holt - my first ever adopted rescue - who is to blame for all the above but I love him dearly!

I also have Eva Puppy Dog who has the biggest set of listeners on her

Thanks Lou and Melody, Lou you have 12 wow I bet they keep you busy, I am hoping Shadow is going to be a nice little guy being my first one, I am going to handle him every day but not too much to start with as I don't want to stress him out, I am keeping him in my lounge so he gets used to noise and hears voices and normal household noises ,Melody you certainly have your hands full to, I love the desert hedgehog been looking at a few pics, I hope to get to know lots of people on here as it seems a really friendly forum, I will no doubt have loads of questions to ask......

start handling him now tanzi, he is fine to be handled xx

I would start handling him - I know there is lots of conflicting advice but I find it better to start handling as soon as you get them home as it helps them to bond with you and get used to their environment.

I will definitely handle him as soon as I get him then I will put him in his new viv and leave him alone for a while to get used to all the different noises and smells, Thanks Em for showing me this fantastic forum x x

I love the feeling of waiting on a new baby wether its one im having off a fellow breeder and friend or my own litter .. the excitement is great .x
