this little one was fortunately found yesterday on a lady's snow covered lawn and is now being cared for ...... he/she weighs only 300g and from the looks of it, is one of this year's babies
If you see a hedgehog out during the day (at any time of year) or you see a small baby as in the pic, an underweight hoggie or one that is wobbly when moving around then they need help urgently. You can tell if a hedgehog is underweight if you hold it on its back when it is curled up in ball (it should be nice and round but if it is more oval/long thin then it is underweight/dehydrated)
Please pick them up, using some gloves to protect your hands from their spines, place them in a high sided box together with a towel/blanket to snuggle into, place the box somewhere nice and warm and either contact your local Hedgehog Carer if you know their number or ring the BHPS on 01584 890801 and they will give you the details of your nearest Carer(s).
Alos, please remember to put out some food and water for them. If there are any around then they will be very hungry and thirsty and you could just save a life
