| Hi, so my name is Kath and yesterday I picked up the newest member of my family Alvin <3. He is 8 weeks old and already weighing in at 256 grams. Basically what im looking for from you guys is a few lines on how best to give him an amazing start. The breeder we had him from has given us a bunch of information but would like some other breeders/owners advice also. Thanks xx Ps anyone know how to upload a picture of him as my display pic? Xx | |

| Hey Kath
I am Lou , I currently am owned by 2 desert hogs , 12 aph with 3 babies in the nest ...
Bonding with your hedgehog can take time , I tend to only offer mine mealies on handling time , for the first few weeks until they associate me with treats this is a good way of building up a bond .x

| My 1st full day with him today and I must say hes an awesome little dude. Letting me handle him properly. You can see how happy he is with me and at ease :-) i know there's still a little way to go though. He is having a hardtime with his quilling though so am trying to be extra careful with his quills.
Thank you for all your replays and atleast I know if I need help your all there.
I'd like to have a display picture but unsure how to do it. Any ideas? Xx

| Can anyone tell me what the lowest temp a hedgie will put up with before attempting hibernation. I have him in a plastic tank with a caged opening at the top. (Zoozone) and I have a heatmat under it. Just want to know as a reference xx | |

| to change your profile picture go onto the "profile" tab below the prickly critterz logo and then go on "avatar" which is the black writing above the main green box where everything is (to the right of the screen! then you will see a place where you can change your avatar 23 degrees and above are good temps xx | |

| It depends on how warm your house is to be honest - a heat mat underneath their nest box will provide the right amount of heat - anything lower than 20 without any type of heating will trigger hibernation attempts - most keep them between 21 and 24 degrees x | |
