| Oh no.... Can we not put a small article together between us for our local newspapers expressing concerns over possibility of new craze and how to make sure you're buying from a reputable breeder and what to look out for? Obviously without naming PAH or SR directly.....
I'm more than happy to sign this petition Tayer

| I've heard this too but I also heard some one who works in pets at home say that it's not true as they cannot get the license to sell them as they are too exotic. So fingers crossed that this is true!! xx | |

| You would be surprised how many shops have them in - some get from SR, some get a pair and breed them themselves and some buy from people who cannot sell them - one UK wholesaler has invested in a herd and is breeding for the trade | |

| Tayer, this is such a bone of contention with me as yes I do have a shop and no I do not breed at the shop nor do I keep any of mine at the shop - people who want my babies, have to come to the house or I have to know them or be sure of where they are going to - there is no recognised "expert" in the UK and as such, shops have pretty much a free reign to keep them as they like - even though the animal welfare act clearly states that any animal in a shop should be kept according to their needs and requirements - I have had shops say it is impossible to sex hedgehogs until they are at least eight weeks old - hello, I can sex mine from when I first lift them out - the boys have a belly button (sounds nicer) which is pretty obvious to see - they cannot breed until they are older so it is ok to keep boys and girls in together - siblings as well as they will not breed as they are brother and sister, throw them a bit of spikes dinner in and a couple of biccies and this is OK and what care sheet - NOT all shops are the same, there are some very reputable shops out there who will have APH in and who will look after them, however, there are too many that unfortunately see them as sale x | |

| Oh dear... I wouldn't be suprised if they do, I know simons rodents are breeding aph because I asked a local reptile center where they got their aph from and they said from s.r. I hope it doesn't happen, there will be a lot of unwanted litters and inbreeding going on from people who don't realise how to keep them, and lots of unwanted hedgies once people realise how mich work is involved. A bit like what has happened with pet rabbits, you can't just keep them locked up in a cage like people do hamsters and things xxx | |

| the petition is to try and stop P@H stocking and selling all livestock , due to the poor conditions that the animals are subjected too , sick and injured animals being so on as pets and the lack of expert care . The petition also gives people a chance to voice their own opinions and experiences of P@H. Hope this helps anyone who wants to sign this petition '' Ban the sale of all livestock at Pets at Home branches petition'' [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

Couldn't agree more, I thought breeding was all about improving the APH breed for the best temperament and best health xx | |

| Unfortunately, the price will not put people off - this is where impulse purchases can in and why rescues are needed. | |

| just signed this... i don't think any pet shops should be able to sell livestock, only specialist stores and breeders... this is why rescues are full to bursting with rabbits, i hope it doesnt go that way for hoggies too xxx | |

| Will be signing in a moment. I hope they don't sell them. I went in a little while ago, and had to go and get someone to come to the 'adoption' bit, where people can rehome their animals as there was a rabbit in their, in the TEENIEST little house, and it was dead! No one had noticed. I went and got someone an he said 'Oh, it's probably just slow breathing, don't worry, that's what rabbits do'. I said OK and walked off, and went to an aisle where I could see him. He looked around for me, then quickly whipped the rabbit out and walked to the back of the store VERY quickly! Disgusting.
