PostSubject: Seahorses   Seahorses Icon_minitimeWed Jul 13, 2011 8:48 am

We opened our business in 2007, first working from home and then moving into larger premises in 2009 - we specialise in captive bred seahorses and work with captive breeding farms in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, USA and Ireland and have also started our own breeding programme here in the UK working with a close friend who shares our passion for seahorses.

Here are a few pictures of the seahores we currently offer

They are special - have some piccies to post of our seahorse fry that Nigel is rearing at the moment and will get them on shortly.

They are all saltwater species and years ago they have a reputation of being very hard to keep - this was because they were then all wild caught and the reason why they did not survive was down to feeding - they would not accept frozen food. Captive Bred seahorses are weaned onto frozen food and given that they are kept in the correct size tank and regular water changes, water testing is carried out, exactly the same as you would on a marine tank set up, they are very hardy and very entertaining to watch. A must given the fact that it is the male who has the babies and proper contractions, hours of them, not that I am gloating in any way but mother nature got this one right!!
