| Photo of the Month - January 2012 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Paul shaw took this photo of a Grey Seal pup taken at Donna Nook, Lincolnshire on the 27th November. He used a Nikon D7000 with 500mm F4, and a Gitzo tripod with a Wimberley head. It's also worth mentioning that this photo was taken from the viewing area, and not on the beach. Going beyond the viewing area can cause much distress to the seals which can lead to pup fatalities. As a wildlife photographer the welfare of the subject should always be the priority. Great photos can be had in the viewing area, although you sometimes need to be a bit more creative. | |

| Photo of the Month - February 2012 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This heron was photographed by Ellie king in Regent's Park, London, with a Panasonic Lumix ZS8. Inner city parks offer great opportunities for photographers to get really close to wild birds and animals as they're very used to having people close by. Ellie said "This heron didn't seem to be particularly worried about people and strolled down the path by the boating lake, right in front of me." | |

| Photo of the Month - April 2012 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]John Jeffery took this shot on March 20th in Cranbrook, Kent. He'd seen this Bee-fly 'roosting' the preceding evening and returned at first light the next day to see if it was still there. It was and he took this shot with the rising sun as a backdrop. This photo is direct from the camera with no enhancement. Camera used was a Canon 40d with a Canon 100mm macro lens. Bee-flies will perch in this way with the proboscis pointing skywards when they are cold (overnight for instance, as here) and they've been recorded as staying in the same position for up to a week. | |
