You do know that the wild hogs, and I assume the pygmies as well, can delay the pregnancy until they feel safe. They can also absorb it if they want to.
Their pregnancies are weird. They appear to be able to store the fertilised eggs somehow. Some research a few years ago found that a litter all had different DNA denoting they all had different fathers.
This year we've had several females in who have given birth over several days. You think they've finished and another one appears two days later.
