PLEASE make sure when tidying your garden for winter that you tie up tightly and dispose of any rubbish sacks.. Hoggies just love climbing into a bag full of garden waste to sleep... Thank you ..

DOUBLE TROUBLE !! These two have been brought into the Rescue as they only weigh 350g.. I am sure they are out of the same litter as have been seen out together most evenings.. There is also another one which Sue has advised is a little bigger so she is going to weigh that one in case it needs to come into the Rescue for over wintering...

This is DUSTY !! This is the Hoggie who went missing in a lady's house 2 days ago.. She called me this morning to advise they spotted her just in a hole in a wall cavity as they are having alterations done but could not get her out.. I went over and wiggled her around enough to pull her back out and she was covered from nose to tail in dust.. She weighs 580g and is healthy.. I have removed her as it is the next door neighbours with the two very large bonfires on the land... The gates were chained so i could not gain any access.. The lady is going to go and see the workmen when they appear and give them my poster on checking the bonfires...Fingers crossed they will check..

RESCUES FULL .... Rescues are already full to capacity for over wintering Hoggies, my nearest 3 Rescues have stopped taking in any more as they are full.. I have taken in 15 Hoggies in the last 7 days alone and am fetching another one in first thing.. PLEASE don't give up if you can't find a Rescue that can take a Hoggie you have found..Call the British Hedgehog Preservation Society 01584 890801 and ask them to search their database for more carers... Thank you..

As the leaves are now falling, PLEASE check when you are collecting them to make sure none of our Prickly Friends are asleep in them.. When you bag them up remove the bag from the garden asap as Hoggies just love to get into plastic bags.. Thank you ..

WEIGHING SCALES are one of our most important pieces of equipment, so if you do see a Hoggie out especially at this time of year, PLEASE just weigh it to ensure it has reached the magic 650g.. Obviously this Hoggie on the scales does not need any over wintering !!!!

FOX/DOG ATTACK ... Fetched in this small Hoggie weight 280g and it has a severe open wound on the bottom of it's back.. I am assuming a fox or dog has grabbed it and torn a chunk out of it.. The open wound was full of maggots which i have flushed out with F10 solution and used an antibiotic powder to dry the open wound, antibiotic and strong pain killer given.. This was yesterday afternoon and it is still alive this morning and has eaten and drank.. I have had one before with this kind of injury and it pulled through, so keeping everything crossed for little Hoggie ...

FOUR Hoggies in already today and this is the smallest, a Female who only weighs 196g, she was found last night roaming around a front garden.. She is fine and enjoying the warmth and food.. She will probably be having her photo taken later by the Local Newspaper, if only she knew just how many people will see her picture !!

ANOTHER busy morning 2 more Hoggies into the rescue, 1 Male and 1 Female both juvenile's.... Managed to secure a good deal on another new Intensive Care Unit being shipped from Ireland today, should arrive in couple of days.. Thanks to Pets @ Home for raising the funds.. These units are invaluable and are used by Veterinary Hospitals and have saved many many Hoggies here at Prickly Ball Lodge.. Unbelievable just how many are arriving daily, more houses i think, and more hours in the day needed !!
