| In this weather try to keep cats and dogs indoors as much as you can. OR make a shady area in the garden for them A few tips to help; Kong toy stuffed with veg and food - upside down in a mug and pour in veg water, keep in freezer over night and kive them a Kongcicle to chew on this will help cool them down Sounds wierd but make them each a towel cape to tie onto the collar and around the waist. Keep it wet/damp with cold water If they overheating wrap ice cubes or an ice pack in a tea towel at put it in the groin area high up, this will cool the femoral artery and keep the internal blood cool Childs paddling pool for them to lie in if they want DONT take them walking in tarmac we wear shoes they dont and their pads can be badly burned, if sand is too hot for us to walk on spare a thught for paws! DO NOT let them near still water places the algea bloom can be leathely toxic to dogs even if they just get a paw wet, alway go to free flowing or tidal water and if you have to go out LEAVE THEM AT HOME 10 mins in a hot car can kill Please look after your pets, black animals get heat stroke much faster than other coloured animals [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| good post!
dont give ice cubes to dogs though or dont put it in their water. apparently the cold temps can cause muscle spazms and cause the stomach to "flip" and bloat, can be very serious. normal temp water is great for them xx

| Fab tips, thank you I remember last year we all had the conversation about iced water for pets. Something that I learned the other day was about a treat for dogs in hot weather. Put low fat yoghurt in ice cube tray and freeze. Safe n simples Xoxox | |

| That picture is shocking - Jack prefers to walk on the grass in hot weather so we go to anderton where there is more grass.
Yoghurt - will have to try this for my doggies - thanks Mel x
