| Hello everyone. New to the forum but having looked around I can see I'm not the only one nuts about hoggys, my family think I'm quite mad as I prepare for my new arrival.
This will be my second hoggy after losing my Hufflepuff a few months ago. A little wary about taking a new baby on again and will probably have lots of questions.

| Hi and welcome to the forum
Don't be nervous, always sad when you lose any beloved pet but I always like to think that our hearts are big enough to be able to love a new arrival.
There are lots of good pointers in each section but anything you need, just shout out and somebody will be pleased to help you.
Looking forward to pictures of your new arrival and share your memories of Hufflepuff as well - memories make me smile x | |

| Hello and welcome to the forum! Any questions ask away! I had so many questions when I was new to hoggies - I still do from time to time. I love the name Boo! x | |

| Thank you Melloola. I think my immediate question is what dry food is best lol The breeder uses go cat chicken and duck which I will keep him/her on initially but should I switch to better quality one over time?x | |

| I would do yes. Go-cat is a bit junk foodie. Whiskers is another one to avoid. Harringtons chicken with rice is a good one and it's quite a bit cheaper than other good quality ones. I also feed Royal Canin lightweight care chicken, Arden Grange chicken and potato, and James Wellbeloved hairball turkey. It's good to have a mix of 2 or 3. As a general rule 30% protein or higher and 10% fat or under. A little over 10 percent is ok in a mix of other lower fat biscuits. x | |

| Thank you so much. I used Arden Grange chicken and potato for my first one, only one type of dried food though, do you mix the three together or rotate them? x | |

| I mix three bands together with a few dried meal worms - avoids fussy eaters x

| Thank you. Just went to visit mine and I can bring her home next week! Problem is I'm not sure which it is as 2 are so similar! This is Boo at 5.5 weeks when I first picked her. My profile has Hufflepuff, my first hog [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Hmmm, one question I have - what age should a hedgehog be allowed home with it's new owner? | |

| It varies a little between breeders, but at the very earliest 6 weeks. Personally, I like them to be at least 7 weeks and they have to weigh 170g before I'll let mine go. I will also hang onto a hoglet for longer if I have any concerns. What age is Boo? | |
