Such a shame...yesterday we had a poorly hedgehog brought into us, very chesty and wheezy. We have come in this morning and in the night she had given birth but sadly she has ignored the babies. We thought they were all dead this morning, they were on thier backs and stone cold so the decision was made to take them out and try to hand rear them. Without the mums first milk feed they have everything in the world and more stacked against them. We are feeding them colostrum today and tomorrow to try and give them some much needed antibodies. So everyone keep your fingers crossed. All we can do is give them a chance and hope that mum recovers soon. Heres a picture of them this morning..within the last few hours the spines have started to pop through where is here they are still in thier skin

Sad news I'm afraid Sad although the little hoglets were feeding well we did sadly lose them all in the night Sad we knew they needed a miracle as without a few feeds of their mum they had no antibodies which are vital to help them survive and although we gave them colostrum it just wasn't enough to help them Sad its very sad but we did the bet we could in a dire situation. Some good news though, mum hog seems to be improving so all we can hope is that she can be released in time to breed again this year.

we had a hedgehog in on Monday that had been disturbed in the garden...she had 3 very young babies with her. Sadly the babies had been handled and put in a box with mum and her nest destroyed. Not sure what to do for the best, as we were pretty sure that the mother would kill them as they had human scent on them, we were rather torn. We decided to give her a chance and set her up in the hospital with her babies. It was touch and go but all we can do is leave her and time will tell. I am however delighted to tell you that when feeding her last night i saw mummy hog out with a baby next to her alive and well and the same has been seen today Smile We are unsure if all 3 are alive but one is better than none and shes beat all the odds...so far. These situations are awful and should never happen in the first place. so please always call a wildlife rescue centre for advice before touching and moving baby animals.

What a day so far!!!! We have had 3 very poorly baby hedgehogs in, freezing cold and covered in fly eggs still rather worried about them. We have had a nest of 5 short tailed voles and in total 6 nestling sparrows. Along with a young wild rabbit, and a young crow. Lets hope the phone doesnt ring again!!

The 3 baby hedgehogs are all doing well, eyes open and currently 'trying' to lap milk from a dish. Always a messy affair!

When the baby hedgehogs try a new food they do something calles 'self annointing' where they rub the neelw smell iver their bodies by licking their own backs. Its very odd indeed and i have just managed to get a video of all three doing it! Take a look

What a day!!!! With the very hot weather and sooooo many animals being admitted to the hospital the volunteers have had an exhausting day. The day has been never ending with the latest rescue being this female hedgehog and her 2 babies that were being disturbed by dogs. It was the dogs garden and the mum had been protecting her babies around the nest for 2 days so they had to be moved and are now all tucked up and safe.

A very generous couple paid the centre a visit today bringing all of these items with them! The goodies includes some items from our wishlist such as a new pet carrier, gazebo and a wheel barrow buddy! Thought i would let you both know that one of the cages was put to use hours later by 3 new baby hedgehogs! Thankyou so much to the both of you

This Hedgehog came into the hospital yesterday after being found wandering around during the day looking a bit lost. It appears to be ok and wasted no time tucking into some food
