| aww bless her x My worst was still little Solo - his mum attacked his whole litter after she gave birth in a thunderstorm and his face was all bloodied from where she had mullered his nose. I tried hand rearing, lost his siblings early on. Solo made it through 48hrs before dying in my hands. Completely devastated Im so paranoid with these two babies - especially after finding Nefi hibernating yesterday - I really thought she was going to die sorry morbidness | |

| It isn't morbid at all Hayley - it highlights what can go wrong when you breed and sharing these experiences will hopefully give others an insight - until you have to hand feed you really don't appreciated how small and helpless these litte guys are - my Honey destroyed one of her first litter and I desperately tried to hand feed the other - 24 hours was what I had - would I still do it again, definately - hand rearing is extremely hard but well worth it if their lives are saved.
The little ones should be able to take some solid foods from three weeks - Karli's last litter were eating well at three weeks - hopefully something for you to aim for.

| Im hoping so - when I made my website I included a page on past litters - good and the bad. I think it is important for people to know that its not just cute baby hedgehogs. And same here - I will try to save any baby unless of course you can see they are too far gone. My first ever destroyed litter I had to euthanise a live baby badly mauled by mum - couldnt bear seeing her suffer | |

| currently I have had five litters with no problems. Four destroyed litters in a row - two due to sheer bad luck - one thunderstorm birth with a mum terrified of storms and one born at 50 days since conception - I stupidly went and cleaned and moved mum just before birthing assuming she was not preggers >:/ These two litters were ok but Yini started abandoning hers at 10 days when we had to have emergency heating works - very very loud for three days. Uhura gave birth the day before the work started, killed two babies during and one baby afterwards. Makes me feel so rubbish really | |
