| Thanks Helen & Botty, He's a really strong little character. He takes everything in his confident little stride and just slotted right in! He will stretch out (as oppose to balling up) and have a power nap on any willing lap. He doesn't even curl when we scoop him up to put in his zz - just looks around wondering what's going on... Feels like he's been here for months not days. | |

| Took these about an hour ago: Morning Training - Junior has Europeans firming in sight! Action Shot - Jnr headed it just as I took the pickie! But then... Ooo...What's this? Lovin' that scrunchy noise! Ahh... decisions... decisions! No Contest - you can't beat a good ol' jingle-ball! After 'practice' he had a nice love with Annice (pickies later) followed by a light breakfast: and so to bed! | |

| Thanks Tayer
I've a pound shop nearby and know what you mean for cheap'n'cheerful deals - I'm always picking pet toys up there - especially for the dogs. Well, they're like kids aren't they? There's no point in spending a fortune on something that's going to get torn apart and/or lost.
As for Jnr. He is a right little character/nut-job! Must be why I was drawn to him - I always seem to find the loopy 'uns lol! Honestly though, I couldn't be happier with how well he settled in. He just took everything in his stride. Now he's used to us all he's the most content little soul you could wish for...
Jake, I hope he is. If love'n'fuss count, then he's gotta be a happy hoggy lol! | |

| Aww thanks peeps I can't take credit for his total cuteness... That has to go to Helen's skill at choosing his parents. The thing I've always loved about him is his temperment. He hasn't a nasty bone in his little body. Again, good breeding but also good taming... I wanted a little pal for my little gal and Junior's exactly that - Annice utterly adores him. By the way, a couple of weeks ago (while I was coping with a migrane and absent from here) I had to explain what he was to her class' temporary TA 'cos she told Annice off for having a hedgehog! Ruddy woman told her we were breaking the law keeping a hedgehog, even after Annice tried to explain the difference between APH's and wildies. Then Annice made the fatal mistake of mentioning the owls (within the context of us being keen on exotics) The TA called her a little liar in front of the whole class. Annice was in a real state over it! Suffice to say I went suitably bollistic!!! Annice got an apology from the head as the TA wasn't there. Her class teacher is lovely - warm and caring. She said the woman should never be allowed in a primary class! Anyway, everyone in Annice's little world knows she's a very lucky little girl with a very prickly pal. | |

| You're right Jake. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that some of the most stupid are adults who feel that being such makes them automatically right when dealing with younger people...

| yep i agree, she sounds very childish to argue with a child about an animal that IS legal and also call her a liar infront of the class, that must have demoralised her!! have you complained then?? xx | |

| I challenged the woman myself (no idea what her name was - Annice said she called her Miss ). There and then, in the playground, in front of the assembled parents, teachers and children (it was 3.30pm end of the day) She was all sweetness and light to me of course. I politely asked her what had happened in the classroom. She said "I'm afraid your daughter got a little over excited and told some tall tales about her fancy so-called pets"! At which point numerous parents and teachers started heading my way as they were all well aquainted with Annice, Me and our 'so-called' pets lol! I then calmly, and relatively quietly told her that in the first place, she had no business using the word 'liar' on my 8yr daughter - for far from being so, we do indeed keep owls - as well as Jnr, Annice's APF! Suffice to say, Annice got a fulsome apology from the head, who explained that it was 'very wrong' for anyone to talk to anyone the way Annice had been spoken to. He then had a nice, long chat about how she looks after her hedgehog. Her first answer: I have a book - and my Mummy! I can't see that woman coming back, so all's well that ends well... | |

| I know Jake. We get some weird and wonderful remarks about the owls. I don't mind educating the misinformed - how else will they learn? It's the know-it-alls that know nothing-at-all that get my goat!
Yes Helen, everyone who sees him says it - a beautiful little creature. I can understand why you thought about keeping him. He's become a family favourite all round - mostly because of his personality.
Jnr's so bold now. He's used to all of us and enjoys playtimes so much - it shows in the photos. He's the nosiest little thing. I hadn't noticed the screwed up piece of paper. Now I know how much he enjoyed knocking it about I'll add it to his play-time toys.
I hope Daisy enjoys them. I've been feeling guilty about not posting any photos for a while.

| Do you know Elaine, we had the exact same thing last year when I got Meldrew my tortoise. Steven got yelled at by a teacher for keeping an illegal animal and I got loads of stick off uneducated folks. Trying to explain to people that he was bred in this country and has legal papers to prove it was no easy task. Some people were not prepared to listen. Stevens is 16, but he's also autistic and couldn't handle the teacher yelling at him that he was breaking the law so he told the teacher to 'f-off', which is not like him t all. Suffice to say, he got into loads of trouble but we were advised to put the incident with the teacher to one side for Stevens sake. I was not impressed.
Is it ok to give catnip to a hoggie Tayer? I bough one of those cat toy packs, but the cat wont play with the catnip mouse! Maybe I could give it to Hercules?
