Animal encounters brightened up the bank holiday weekend at the Centre for Life in Times Square, Newcastle.
Visitors were introduced to reptiles including a bearded dragon, a tarantula, and a pygmy hedgehog.
Also on show were bats, a guinea pig and a toad.
Animal expert Jay Gunn, said: “All the animals are captive-bred so they are used to being in human company and being handled.
"There’s been something for everyone, and it has been good to dispel some of the urban myths about the animals too.”
