Can female rabbits save sperm from male rabbits?

no they cant.


Here is how rabbit reproduction works.
Rabbits are induced ovulators. Which means the doe(female) does not release eggs until the buck(male) mounts her and mates with her.
If the buck releases sperm into the female the sperm and egg(s) meet and produce kit(s) (baby rabbits).
The sperm from the buck cannot be saved inside the doe.

One thing that can happen though is a doe can be bred and then rebred a week later and sometimes (not often) will become pregnant with more kits from this second breeding. This can happen because a female rabbits uterus is in two parts that are horn shaped on both sides of her ovaries.
This is a bad thing to happen because it is very hard on the doe and the seconf set of kits usually end up being stillborn or die shortly after birth.

There once was a question asked if a Hedgehog could retrain sperm .... not sure anything was found to claify this and i haven't being able to find anything on this either .x

Well it's a debate on rabbits...I think coz they have a horned uterus, they seem to think they do, but iv read its also more if you pair a rabbit then pair again a week after you'll get a bigger litter???

Iv never heard any other animal doing it!

yeah very conflicting, some people believe that they hold sperm others dont, iv read forums as well, but its all hear say, so not a common thing.
their either pregnant or their not...lol
