hedgehog house...

Me and gavin are in talks, with turning our little coal house/shed on the side of the house into a insulated hoggy home instead of the attic...

its built on the house, with an outside toilet in there, and nextdoors is built on the other side, so its always warmish...by insulating it, it will be ideal.
i dont like asking people who come to meet the hogs to go up the attic on a ladder...people look at me daft.

it will need a window and 2 pvc doors either side...front and back...so it will be a, long haul and expensive...but so worth it...hopefully this time next year it will be done...

gav is coming around the idea of me doing this properly and becoming a little more professional....

any hints and tips of what i need and to think about, wlcome...

you will need heaters

damp proofing

insulation

false floor ..

elextrics with enough sockets for heat mats as the are essential through the winter .x

i have the flooring from the attic and they doubled up on what we needed...

you used the silver insulation panels, didnt you? on the floor too? whats damp proofing?

its the liner ... that needs to go before the inuslation panels ...

you will lose about 6 inches off the space ....x

will have to get gavs friend in to look at it...
he is a carpenter...and builds shops etc.

its probably the same size as your hoggy home...

may need a new slate room, will ask next door he is a roofer.

does any one know, if you need, planning permission to put a window in the from of it??

Don't think you would Tayer - planning permission is for buildings over certain dimensions x

the building itself is already there....

Where I used to live, we have an outside loo with window, coal shed and shed with window - wouldn't worry about it, I would put a window in xx

Replacing windows
Putting in new windows, roof-lights, skylights etc (Bay windows will be treated as an extension to the house) [Go to Extensions]
Re-roofing without any extensions
Installation of solar panels which do not significantly project above the roof slope.
