| I have literally just seen another post where a heat mat has singed the carpet underneat the viv, singed the wooden vivarium and the liner - now, my mats are habistat and I have never had a problem with them - the exo terra mat was the one that burnt my viv - ceramic heaters provide an all round heat rather than just one area in their home - I heat my room so it is constant but if I needed to set a new home up outside of the hoggie room - ceramic heater all the way.
Gemma - can get either x | |

| I've stopped using my heatmats now since one of them made the bottom of Puddin's viv go all 'bubbly'!
I ordered the CHE from Helen, as well as the heater with the thermostat. I've not yet used the CME as the heater has been ample.

| I use the CHE's. They're great for knowing your hog is going to be kept warm. Used to worry so much about Ody getting cold when he was in an indoor rabbit cage originally. Was so relieved when I got his viv and a CHE. Got a thermistat to keep check on it and make sure it keeps the right temperature. After 3 years it is still working fine. Have had a habit with Iori;s now and then of being absent minded and accidentally burning my hand on it. Burnt one of Emo's wheels once, because I moved it forward while doing something and it was against the heat emitter. DOH! Could do with getting one of those cages for it, Sure I had one somewhere, just need to actually find it and get it put up. x | |

| Your hand or the wheel?? Done it myself, you know the old trick where you think the thermostat might not be working so touch it to make sure it is on! | |

| Ohhhhh, yes I have done that one. Have also been certain I wouldn't need oven gloves to get a pasta dish out of the oven after it has cooked. I rest my case. Hand and wheel. Pretty sure I could smell the hand bubbling! | |
