Another arrival at The Hogsprickle this evening - a little girl from Limerick. A very kind family found her wandering and brought her in as she was a wee bit disorientated. The spines on her head have been broken and she has an uneven shape, so its a big possibility she has been hit by a car. She has a good meal and is snug in her nest. We will keep you updated on her progress.

The weather has our hogs confused. They woke but the cold snap sent them back to sleep PLEASE can you all put out cat and dog food both tinned and dry for the spikey butts. NOT beef or fish and NOT gravy. Remember if you have a hedgehog thats small, ill, or rescued you MUST apply for a license from the National Parks and Wildlife to keep them until they are rehabilitated. Its the law. SO please get in touch if you have any questions,
Hedgehugs

Thank you Robin. This little hog is sheltering from the rain under Robins car in Dublin
If you have photos of hedgehogs or any other wildlife in the garden why not send them to us and we can post them up

We are spreading the word about Autumn baby hedgehogs. Some of them are born quite late in the year and therefore they dont have enough weight put on before they hibernate. Please if anyone sees a hedgehog out during the day or it looks like its a baby or small PLEASE can they call us so that we can take care of them during the winter. To keep a hedgehog or any other wildlife you must have a licence from NPWS as they are a protected species. Also keep putting out cat and dog food for the adults as they need to put on weight before their long sleep
Thank you
Love

Hazel arrived today after a JCB driver noticed he had destroyed her nest. Mum and the other babies were no where to be found She is being bottle fed and hopefully will be fat and wild for next spring

The weather has turned colder and lots of the spikey butts are looking for a place for the long sleep, but there are a few who are under weight or too young to make the winter PLEASE look out for them and phone us for help. We need to look after ALL our wildlife in the hard times
So move the onfire before you light it
Keep putting some food out for the wildlife
Keep a corner of the garden wild
Make sure you have a wildlife highway through your garden and ask your neigboughrs to do the same
and remember GIVE NATURE A HOME
