This is the X-ray of the jaw of the hog that came in on 12th July from Chiddingly. You can see the fragment of bone that pierced through the lower jaw came from the right hand side. There is also a hairline fracture on the left. Surgery has gone well and he is eating fine. Infection is also under control so hopefully, fingers crossed, will make a full recovery

Last formula feed of the day. Hand feeds are now being cut back as she is starting to nibble on the large selection of tempting morsels in her cage

Three hedgehogs in via my vets today. One little 196g hoglet with had an injury to its side and fly strike. And a mum and baby brought in by finder after nest was disturbed. The finder, who was an elderly gentleman and who didn't realise one was a baby, is now on the look out for any others and will ring immediately if any more found. Mum is nice and healthy, baby weighs 203g

This is the little 203g hoglet that has come in with mum via my vets. It has been explained to the finder that there may well be more babies and he is keeping a look out for them

The little baby hedgehogs are both doing well. The one that came in weighing 197g is now up to 280g and the side injury is healing well, and the one that came in with mum weighing 203g is now up to 289g and has now been put in her own cage.

Update on some of our casualties. The juvenile wood pigeon who had its leg pinned is being released today. The baby hedgehog with the side injury is all healed, now weights 480g and we are just waiting for the spines to regrow. The other young hoglet is at 530g and doing well. Once both of these reach over 600g they will go into a pre release pen and eventually be released together. The hedgehog with the broken jaw is doing well. His jaw has stabilised and healing and we have finally got on top if the horrendous infection he came in with. The wood pigeon with the severe puncture wound on his back is healing well and is back to the vets tomorrow to be checked over

We had a young hedgehog weighing 353g handed to us via our vets at last Friday. He was found in a fountain at the East Sussex National. Luckily he hadn't ingested any water and his chest and lungs were clear. He was dehydrated and very hungry. He is doing well and is now 515g

Heidi Hog released earlier this year into the finders garden is a Mummy Hog. She was spotted at the feeding station last night and shortly after she had eaten this little prickly ball appeared from the same direction Heidi had run off to. We are pretty certain mum and babies are under the neighbours shed. Food levels have now been increased to cover the extra mouths that need feeding

I would like to congratulate the driver of a dark coloured Vauxhall Astra who noticed a hedgehog crossing the road on Adur Drive, Stone Cross in front of them at 9.30 this evening and who stopped and waited till it had safely crossed. If we all paid the same attention when driving at night, more of our wildlife would survive.

Our little hedgehog that came in yesterday is doing ok. Faecal samples so far have been clear, but will continue to check as internal parasites don't always show up in every sample, just in case. She has just weighed in at 312g so thats she 18g up on yesterday. As soon as her food was put in her cage her little nose popped out from under her fleecy blanket, had a good sniff and headed straight for her food bowl
