Update : Derek x

Had Derek out for play time this afternoon and he has been trying to push himself up on his front legs but as you can see from the pics his legs cross over and he struggles to pull himself forward . I weighed him and he weighs 143g so he is gaining slowly but surely  you can see from his little face what a sweet heart he is xx

Bless him - the gradual weight gain is good - you don't want him to pile it on and put more pressure on his legs - hopefully, as he gains weight and gets stronger he will get more use or figure out how to get about better - you are doing really well Jo - proud of you x

Aww thanks for the update Jo great pictures his weight gain is good its going on slowly like Helen said which will be  better for him, really hoping he gains his strength and starts trying to use his legs which will then help him build up the muscle in his legs give him a big fat kiss from me x

I will Lou x he has just had his supper and he is snuggled away in his new cage for the night  I've left him some chicken , crushed biscuits and some mealies so hopefully he will drag himself out for a feast xx

Aww so emotional reading this. Cant believe how much these babies get under our skin. So glad to hear he is not in any pain Jo. Really hoping that he goes from strength to strength now. Well done Jo seems like your doing a fab job looking after him . He so reminds me of Dottie xx

Dottie and Derek are one offs .... I said to Jo that with Dottie she did everything a bigger hog would do food was never a issue with Dottie , Derek never showed signs until he left ... which is hard for me as a breeder as you never want to think that something is wrong with one of your babies ... im just glad it wasn't something other then nature ... love them both x

Dottie is doing fab Lou. She isnt an active hog just loves her cuddles. We knew she used her wheel but had never seen her on it until the last few weeks . Myself and Elise were watching her and chuckling, she is so funny . She doesnt run on her wheel just pads along three or four quick little steps then stops   rocks back and forth for a while then does the same again lol. She is a funny little dab. xx

lol .. she has a wonderful home with you ... and Derek does with Jo that I am grateful for ... I have been thinking hard about just been a hog owner now and not a breeder ..

Derek is still enjoying his feeds that I give him but is still not venturing out at night , he doesn't come out unless I get him out , so I've been spending so time with him in the day seeing if he will venture about , he tends to shuffle himself backwards it seems easier for him than pulling himself forward . He is still 140g he hasn't gained any weight this week but he hasn't lost any either . He seems a happy little thing in his own little way
