| I want to build a new lil house for Herb's zoozone and paint it...this may sound silly but where do people get their wood from and what paint is advised? I also want to eventually build a viv as I want some thing a little larger and some thing more stack-able for more hoggies in the future xx | |

| You can get ready made wooden ones Sian and use children's paint on them. Have you had a nose at Tracy's thread 'Painted House'? If you are a proper DIY'er and want to build a special designed one, then I would just make sure that the wood you use is the same kind that most pet ones are made of. Also make sure there are no nails etc sticking out or that the ends have been sanded down when finished.
For anyone who might be able to answer...Are there any kinds of wood etc that are not safe to use?

| As they cannot have pine scented shavings I would stay away from pine wood - I have to admit that I am always dubious of using paints of any type, I inherited two vivs and home made cabins that were painted and the paint came off so easily that I would be worried about the hoggies licking it off - but this is just me x | |

| Ok thanks for the advice guys, will be extra careful with the paint then, if it does look like it might be flaking I will remove it. I do have one from pets at home but id like to make a more personal one. It prob wont be me doing it tho, most prob my step dad as he built our cattery so knows a bit more than me lol xx | |

| Have to agree with the paints ... I dont use paints but my vivs are decorated i get free wall paper samples and then pop stickers on if you give me five mins as im just cleaning them out i will take a picture to show u what i mean this way you run no risk of hoggie digesting any paint flakes .x | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Mine are due a makeover and i will be doing them in animal print themes next time .. but as my vivs are all complete not seperate vivs ... i thought doing each one a different plain colour then adding stickers was a good idea ...lots of different stickers paper was free just made sure i took a 4ft piece of each colour and the stickers cost me a tenner ... x Not great pictures but you get the idea .x | |
