Squeak and Bofur went to the same road but neighbors. The neighbor rushed out to purchase a hog home so he could help out. Squeak below

Three more hogs moving outside and should all be leaving this week. Weather permitting. Then that should be the last of last years hogs. We should not still have AJ but this weather has delayed release so much. i hope they find a home and settle in quickly.

Today is a sad day. Two hogs was rushed to the VETs first thing this morning. The one had a broken bottom jaw. This had been done some time ago which resulted in the bone itself becoming infected. He was PTS. The second one which was attacked was being patched up but sadly he died during the procedure under anastetic. Not good.

As i have been phoning around the last few weeks I am so happy to say that a lot of the release sites still have hogs, Some are sure its the ones we released other think they now have more than one and only a few said, they stayed for a week then went. Its really does make my day when we hear all of these updates. What we do does work even if its just one that goes on, that's worth all the hard work, sleepless nights and grey hairs.

Most of the hogs now in our care are all ones with issues. Its not a good time here at the moment, with two still critical, i blind that is struggling, 1 with head trauma that is being assessed for any signs of improvement. Lung worm, round worm, mites. On a happy note the girl we think may be expecting may go home in the next fews days. She came in with one side of her head missing spines >>> stimmer injury. They have all grown back so getting her back out just in case. Five more will be leaving and thats the last ones then all out and free. Just the new ones that have came in, in the last few months being sorted.

Snowflake has left us tonight. She has gone to a wonderful area with at least 3 other wild hogs already feeding every night.

These are short videos of some of the hedgehogs in our care. We have a project on at the moment to install live wildlife cameras in the rescue area, the pre-release pens outside & remote cameras as part of a wildlife recording project. The cameras will hopefully go live mid 2013 and recorded video will be posted here as well as live streams.

Tonight another two out, Thorn and Wilfred. Another two was meant to leave but no show so out side another two has gone out. The one hog has a great home to go to but the neighbor evicts them. the other got caught in netting and to start with we thought no, but amazing how these spiky creatures totally turns around and now he is good to go.

Today has been a hard day. Too many really poorly hogs coming in. We lost the blind hog and Benny the 9 years old still is in a bad way. Two more hogs have a very large worm burden fighting for their lives. The head trauma female turned out to be a mom and lost all her babies tonight. it is only the second time this has happen here and i have to say it is so upsetting and distressing to see.

On a sad note Benny the 9 year old hog sadly went to sleep this morning. The people that have look after him since he was placed in his secure garden has been informed and naturally upset. We tried to make him better so he could slowly die in his own garden but sadly this didnt happen.

This old fella has today been returned to finders. He still has a small problem with his back leg, but he can use it walk, ball. Sometime with old ones its best not to mess too much. this one would not have survived an anesthetic so we released. He is going back to where he was found and will have support feeding and home if he chooses to stay.

Just went to release the female that came in a few weeks ago with strimmer injury. Now it had healed over before it got to us but we kept her because of missing spines. She was a very lucky hog. She was not there. So tonight its going out into the garden to find her as she has escaped the soft release enclosure. Tomorrow the lad that came in with what we believed was possible two dislocated back legs. He had been trapped in a camouflage net which the finders had forgotten about. He made a fantastic recovery without the need for any loss of limbs. Again. WATCH WHEN YOU STRIM AND REMOVE OR HIGHER UP PEA NETTING.

Updates: Popeye is still not gaining much weight. Last night there was a major build up of infection under his eye. All cleaned again. The lad in the incubator is still in a very bad and having major problems just eating and drinking due to infection on his lungs. Cassi little bit of ringworm is nearly all gone. The lad with lung worm has finally put some weight on along with Hagrid. With all the releases we have been doing we are down to just 6 in the rescue area and another 7 outside. Cleaning is taking less but the hands on care has gone up due to the state they are all in.

The girl that got caught in netting has gone back to finders tonight. they have now removed the netting so hogs can pass in safety. She is very lucky.

The female that has finally grown all her spines, and Charlie found was released back to finders last night. So if she is about to become a mom she can have them in the wild where she is meant to.

Today we have had our first set of hoglets. i have to say its a small thank you after some one the worst hog cases we have seen this week. Knowing we can help these and have had a fantastic success rate rearing them in the past. (spins around touches wood) Tomorrow see's a hog going into the vets having its top pallet of the month stitched up. We are hoping it survives the anesthetic as it is in a very poorly state.

Another early morn feed out the way and the little hogs have all put weight on. It looks like three Lads so i have already nicked named them the Likely Lads but three names fitting for wild hogs would be good.

Good news and bad this evening. One of the little hoglets never made it and sadly went to sleep. The other two are still feeding well. Another new hog in also full of nasty little eggs. Meds started with fluids and heat. Mira however has tonight did two steps towards my hand, a vast improvement but still a long way to go. As they say little steps
