Six admissions today, two possible pregnant females, one with a neck injury, three with intestinal worm associated infections! Prickles is run on the good will of volunteers, a fab partner and all I can say is what a fantastic team we have! Thank you xxx

Another two admissions yesterday, these hogs male and female had been kept in small gardens and were unable to get out! One of them has lungworm and the other is under assessment! We will be releasing both of these back to the wild, please do not contain these little mammals they are born to be wild and deserve a wild existence, they need to be able to travel freely! Prickles has admitted 14 hedgehogs since Sunday!

Two hedgehogs came into Prickles at the beginning of the week, we know one digested something as it was being sick. We now believe it to be warfarin, rat poison, sadly he never recovered and died on Wednesday! The little female is still with us, she was showing symptoms but as the days are passing the symptoms are less. She is in the incubator and is on Vitamin K. Please think before laying down poisons any animal may eat it!

This is a photo of a fluke that was found under the micro scope and had come from one of the female hedgehogs, sadly she was put to sleep this morning. It has been a tough day at Prickles today, the little female who digested rat poison also died this morning. Sometimes animal rescue is soooo tough!

Hogspital is calm, mum and babies are doing well! Three hedgehogs are going to be released tomorrow and the boys are all responding to treatment! We have some females in who had lungworm and could be pregnant, they are also thriving!

The new born hoglets have had hourly feeds throughout the night! They are in the incubator, I went to clean their mum out this morning and she has had another one! This one is with her as she has cleaned it and was next to it. We estimate she has given birth over a 14 hour period!

A large female has just been admitted after getting stuck down a fence post hole, I pulled her out using pliars. She is 871 grams and looks pregnant to me! I estimate she had been stuck for at least 14 hours! She has had fluids and is now warm, I just checked her, she is tucking into meal worms!,

What a busy three hours, three hogs in one really poorly, one severely injured and one cold! Sadly two have just been pts and the other one is up eating! The babies continue to do well feeding every two hours, they require a feed during the night as they are only three days old!

A large female came in this morning she was out in the day being pecked by crows! She looks heavily pregnant to me and was waddling around hogspital earlier! A young hog also came in but died from a mouth injury as we were admitting him! Another call just now a hog has been seen out twice today, it wasn't nest building we are waiting on a call for us to investigate!

The maternity wing at Prickles is filling up! Six females occupying it, they are being treated for worms but all look heavily pregnant to me! The little hoglets continue to do well! The boys are recovering from injuries, worms and the cold from the recent downpours!

We are picking up a number of large females who are out in the day wandering around and appear healthy! I think they are pregnant as they are very plump! It is a dilemma as they are vulnerable if left outside, one was being attacked by crows and another drew the attention of the family dog! We are providing nesting boxes filled with hay! The female we rescued from the fence post hole on Sunday has given birth! One lucky hog to have been found, I haven't gone into the nest but there was def movement coming from inside the box when she was out feeding yesterday!
