Huw is going tonight he is 880 grams, not bad considering that he was 220 grams when he arrived in Oct.

Hedgehog activity is still very slow here at the moment, only little Julius turned up last night, he was the first for several days and he did not turn up until almost 04:00 hrs.

Jules Bishop
Hi all I have been thinking for along time about ways that people involved in hedgehog care can link up and start talking to one another sharing ideas, looking at care standards looking at ways that we can have a bigger voice and more importantly supporting one another! Prickles runs from Cheddar as many of you know, I would like to set up a South West Hedgehog Rehabbers Network Group but firstly I would like to tease out whether there would be any interest? By the South West I mean Bristol to Cornwall!!! Any thoughts?

It's still not worth putting the hedgehog cam online as the local hedgehog activities are still very quiet. Only Julius came last night and he only came once at 03:25 hrs and he left again at 03:29 hrs.

Introducing new hedgehog Bob!
Bob arrived at just after midnight on the 11th May 2013, at first I thought it must be Julius, then I realised that this hedgehog is too big to be him. I grabbed him and took him into the hedgehog unit for an examination and I was surprised to find that he was not marked.
Bob is at least two years old so I don't know were he has been all that time. He looked in excellent condition so I removed his 5 ticks, marked him with 3 small white spots and put him back in the feeder.
He soon left the feeder and was exploring the garden until almost 02:00 hrs, You can see the video that I made on You Tube.

Megan out in the wild at last! I will worry about her as she is not street wise. I had her straight from her mother at the end of Sept, she was very ill with intestinal fluke and I did not expect her to live.
That is all my over-wintered hedgehogs released now, 6 Autumn juveniles and one adult. I am a happy bunny tonight!

I'm going to release Megan and April tonight at 23:00 hrs, or rather I am going to put their nest boxes out by the camera and see what they want to do. Megan is now awake and so is April and its now the last week in May so I am going to try and release them before the weather turns bad again. The hedgehog cam will be on all night so you will be able to see them come out. Megan arrived here at the end of Sept, weighing only 175 grams and she had a very bad case of intestinal fluke, she was critical for over two months, but she pulled through in the end and she now weighs 660 grams.
April arrived here at the end of Oct, he had a old injury to his back and a few other problems, but he is fine now and weighs 1070 grams. I want to get him out now as I think he could be 4years old, I have known him for two years now ever since he was pulled from a swimming pool in Apr 2011.

He is off like a shot! After staying here for treatment for the last six months, April is at last back in the wild again! This has made my day, all I have got to do now is worry about him.

Well he has finally gone! The one hedgehog that I worried the most about during the Winter, with his injured back, snotty nose, sticky eye and then ringworm in January. But everything had cleared up by Febuary and he hibernated. There were times in the last few weeks that I thought that he would never wake up, but he finally did last Sunday. God speed April!

I've just had Julius in for a check up as I noticed that he has got something stuck on his backside, it turned out to be caked mud and an oily substance so I've just given him a bath in a special animal shampoo, he looks a lot cleaner now and he does not smell of oil anymore. The hedgehog cam is now online so keep a lookout for him as he is sure to return later.

Julius and Augustus have already arrived and are having a pushing and shoving match in the hedge behind the feeder!

Little Megan visiting the feeder last night.
This is a picture that six months ago I thought that I would never see.
Back in the Autumn Megan was very ill with a fluke infestation that proved hard to shift, she came to me as a 175 gram Autumn juvenile that would not put on weight. The recommended treatment, (Profender spot on) would only work for a couple of days before the fluke eggs were again seen in her poo. In desperation after five applications of Profender! I switched the treatment to Telmin and the results were dramatic, after just a couple of days her appetite had increased and she began to put on weight and she went from strength to strength, hibernating in Feb. She finally woke up two weeks ago and was released on the 21st of May she is now coming three time a night to the feeder.

Little Megan in again last night to have more ticks removed, she has only been out for 9 days and in that time she has managed to pick up nearly 40 ticks!
At 676 grams she is not as big as I would like her to be, but I can't keep her any longer, its nearly June!
We are all going to need to keep an eye out for her, she has a white spot on her centre back and another on her right shoulder.
