Most rescue centres do not get any funding at all, most can barely fund raise enough to cover basic costs let alone all the other things you don't think of but they all build up. Most rescues spend every penny they have saving animals and forgo any little luxuries, so look after your local rescue, make a donation, send them some food, forgive them when they're harassed, stressed and forgetful. Or cake. Cake always helps! Ooooo it's time for GBBO

Ps. Little girl in this afternoon, exceptionally thin, dehydrated, will tell you more when I know more, but for now she's on heat and has had fluids.

Admitted a 100g hoglet today, he has facial injuries and is quite swollen but has been checked over by the vets and hopefully nothing is broken. He's warm and snuggly on a heatpad now and has taken a feed. His name is Higgy, I shall put pictures on later.

Hedgy, the girl who was admitted last night has quite severe lungworm and is receiving treatment but seems to have picked up a little.

Dave, our big hog with lungworm is responding well to treatment and enjoying trashing his cage every single night. He even managed to poo on the ceiling of it....good going Dave!

John, our poorly hog with fluke is still not very well at all and still very manic. Hopefully treatment will start working soon and we'll see an improvement.

Alfie.....oh Alfie! We're trying so hard with him and seeing very little improvement. He's still receiving fluids and meds but will not take hand feeds. Hopefully he'll start to improve quickly as it's horrible seeing him feeling so sorry for himself.

Drizzle is almost ready for release, as is Martin. Plonker is settled in his new bigger hutch and once we're on top of his infection he'll go to a nice secure garden.

Higgy's still fairly swollen but is doing very well, taking feeds well and has had a good weight gain. I'm hoping that tomorrow he may start lapping some sloppy food if he feels up to it, but for now he's fed well every 3 hrs since 4.30 am, just had his last one of the day and I am off to bed. Night all xxx

You never know what's going to happen at Happyhogs, if you bring a donation round you might even be as lucky as Julie and gang today and get locked in the shed.......4 adults and 1 child locked in the shed, 1 toddler locked out of the shed....not one of my finest moments!

Higgy is eating by himself now! Yay!!! Just admitted a large adult, won't uncurl yet but looking very thin, just warming up, hopefully I'll find out more later. Happy Friday people......pass the wine!

I'm a bit disheartened today, we have some very poorly hogs and last night I thought a couple of them had turned a corner, but we seem to be back at square one this morning Come on hoggies get better NOW!!!

Really chuffed, Alfie and Hedgey seem to have turned a corner, after struggling with them both for different reasons they have both had a good gain today Just John and Blondie to the vets today then.

Morning all, quick update for you....

Higgy is doing really well, growing fast and moving on to proper food and not just sloppy stuff. His facial injuries are almost healed so he looks a lot better but boy is he one grumpy hog!

I still continue to struggle with Alfie, we're hopefully getting there but it's painstakingly slow. Hedgey on the other hand seems to have picked up quite well and will be coming off her heatpad in the next day or two.

Blondie got on well at the vets the other day, she had two abscesses lanced and about 80 ticks removed. She's on antibiotics and will hopefully make a full recovery.

John is still not doing well at all, he has a slight head injury and is being treated for fluke but it seems that it''s the head injury that's causing the problem. The outlook is not good but we'll see what the vets say tomorrow.

Dave and Plonker are just big Males who like to trash their hutches on a nightly basis. Plonker's facial injury seems to be healing nicely and hopefully we've got on top of the infection.

Well, had a pretty hairy drive to the other side of town tonight to collect a hog. Adult hog with a suspected broken leg and stinking of infection is now cosy on a heat pad and has been given fluids, pain relief and antibiotics. Unsure if it is male or female but has been named Coffey. Let's hope he or she makes it through the night xxx
